First of all, I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to vote, it wasn’t a big turn out but it was larger than I thought it would be and that made me even more excited to continue with this project.
That being said, the votes were surprisingly close overall, with the winner in the action RPG section actually forcing me to seek out a tie-breaking vote. Anyway, you’ve waited long enough, the first series’ that will be covered in Stiles’ Series Synopsis are:
Action RPG Results:
Mana/Seiken Densetsu (3 Votes) – Was decided by a non-listed tie-breaking vote.
Ys Series (3 Votes)
Heaven and Earth Saga (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terraningma, Granstream Saga) (2 Votes)
Traditional JRPG Results:
Breath of Fire (5 Votes)
Golden Sun (2 Votes)
Lunar (1 Vote)
Lufia (No Votes) – Poor Lufia gets no Love
Rocket Knight Adventures (5 Votes)
Gargoyle’s Quest (2 Votes)
Shantae Series (1 Vote)
And there you have it! I will be starting with the Mana series. Those who didn’t read the first post may be curious as to why there are three winners, and the reasoning is simple: I’m going to be switching between these three series’ as I go to keep myself from suffering series fatigue in an attempt to keep my critiques as accurate and unbiased as possible. I plan on starting with the Mana series, as it was the one I was most interested in of the three winners.
When I chose the series’ for the poll I was really attempting to choose games that I thought stood a good chance of winning against each other by picking games that were equal levels of obscure. Obviously I did well with that when it came to the action RPGs, and it even seemed to be good choices with the JRPG section at first, with Golden Sun and Breath of Fire being tied until the last three votes took place and made the winner obvious. What was most curious to me was how quickly Rocket Knight Adventures took off (ha… punny). Except for the one vote for Shantae, the first 5 votes all went to Rocket Knight, so that was the first series I knew for sure I would be covering.
These are all games I want to cover at some point, otherwise they wouldn’t have been in the poll at all, so even the games that didn’t win may be covered eventually. I guess that’s really all I have to say about that. Thanks once again for your support and I will be back soon with the first ever entry of SSS, starting with the Mana/Seiken Densetsu Series!
And of course.. you can look forward to this series sometime in the future since it did technically tie. Fair is fair after all, right?
